Well, we made it! Our “golden anniversary” issue, #50, is now complete and includes articles from twelve contributors, including first submission from authors Robert Dorf and Chad Riley The cover, which commemorates the covers from our prior 49 issues, is by our own Bill Jackson. At over 300 pages, there’s tons of HERO fun inside.
Unfortunately, “Real Life”™ issues meant that neither I nor our webmaster remembered to change the cover for our website’s Cover Caption Contest. Thus, we have not yet gotten caption suggestions for issue #49. But that should be rectified soon (if not already done), so don’t despair. You can still win a Haymaker! issue. Just submit a caption for the cover of issue #49 anytime in the next month for a chance to win that issue. (You can enter more than once if you wish, as long as each caption is both original and entertaining.)
If you’re a regular contributor or would like to join the Haymaker! crew, submissions for our next issue (#51: The Lost Theme) are due March 6, 2010. Contributors should be able to download the completed issue within two weeks of that due date (assuming we stick at least somewhat to our submission deadline). See the Upcoming Themes page for more details on this, and future, themes.
Many thanks to all our contributors, past and present, who helped us reach this landmark. And additional thanks to past coordinators James Davis IV, Dave Mattingly, and Lisa Hartjes, who also had a very big hand in making this possible.
